What Are UV Germicidal Lights?

We should probably take a moment to explain to you just what UV lights are, as well as how they work, if you are to determine if they’re a good option for your home. UV germicidal lights use UV (ultraviolet) radiation in order to destroy biological pollutants in the air, and to render them incapable of reproduction. They emit amounts of UV radiation that are safe for residents in the home, as well as children and pets; however, it is more than enough to tidily deal with the biological pollutants passing beneath the lamps in your ductwork.

When to Use UV Germicidal Lights

As stated above, UV germicidal lights do not filter the air, instead destroying biological pollutants. This means that they will not remove dust and other airborne pollutants from the air, making them a great addition to air filtration systems, but not a replacement for such equipment. If you have mold growing in your home already, your UV germicidal lamps will not eliminate it. They can, however, destroy mold spores and prevent them from spreading, as they can with bacteria and viruses.
