Your Furnace Should Not Be Too Noisy

We know that it can be tempting to ignore signs of trouble with your heater, so long as it seems to be heating your home effectively. We have to recommend that you don’t do this, however, because we also know how lousy the results can be. If your furnace is making strange new sounds, you need to have the situation assessed by a trained professional.

Just call our number to ensure that this is the case. We know gas and electric furnaces inside and out. When you work with us, you can count on getting a great performance from your furnace in Alexandria, VA.

What Sounds Indicate a Problem?

Your furnace may be very quiet, but no forced air heating system will be truly silent. That doesn’t mean it should sound like a truck driving up a hill, though! Basically, any new or irregular sounds coming from the furnace could indicate trouble. This could include any of the following.

  • Screeching sounds may be the result of a slipped or frayed belt in the system. This isn’t a particularly tricky fix for a seasoned, professional technician. If you try to do it on your own, though, or if you just ignore the problem, you’ll wind up in hot water. Let us fix it right the first time.
  • Clanging is certainly not something you want to hear coming from any type of machinery. It could be the result of a damaged blower wheel. Perhaps a small part or fixture came loose, or the wheel came off the mount. Either way, there is no good to come of parts banging around in the furnace.
  • Grinding could be the result of a lack of sufficient lubrication – just one reason why routine maintenance is so important. It could be something more serious, though. Again, the only real way to tell for sure is to let a professional get in there.

Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. is happy to handle all of your furnace services.
