food-driveIf you know anything about Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating Inc., aside from how great our HVAC services are, then it is probably that we are heavily involved in our community. We consider it an honor and a privilege to give back to our neighbors, which is why we always jump at the opportunity to participate in the Loudoun Hunger Relief Events.

With your help and the help of others in our community, we enjoyed an amazing turnout that resulted in the collection of over 500 lbs of food donations. That’s over 200 lbs more than last year! We’ve been very busy since the event occurred earlier this spring, but we wanted to take a moment and share our sincere gratitude with you. We’ll see you at the next one!

Help Us Fight Hunger in Loudoun County!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2018

We love our Polar Bear family! Most of our crew got called into work on a very hot weekend, but that didn’t stop us from giving back locally. Our young cubs took over and filled the truck for Loudoun Hunger Relief! Over 300 lbs. of food donated!

Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating recently partnered with Loudoun Hunger Relief by hosting a food drive in an effort to help alleviate food insecurity for Loudoun County residents. Polar Bear volunteers were able to collect over 300 pounds of food outside of the local Giant located in Leesburg, VA. This would not have been possible without the generous contributions of the local community. Polar Bear would like to thank those who so graciously donated to the food drive during their Saturday morning grocery trips.

The donations were then taken to the Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR) warehouse, where they were sorted and then distributed to those in need. LHR is the largest food pantry in the area, serving roughly 200 people per day in the community. For 26 years, LHR has served as Loudoun County’s primary emergency food pantry, providing food assistance to the hungry and food insecure in Loudoun. LHR provides families with food to prepare three nutritionally-balanced meals, including food for those with specialized diets.

Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating is proud to continue a tradition of giving back in local Loudoun County, and we look forward to serving with Loudoun Hunger Relief for many years to come!

Polar Bear AC Celebrates International Polar Bear Day!

International Polar Bear Day

Thank You for Partnering with Polar Bear AC for a Great Cause

Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. takes great pride in promoting and installing high-efficiency heating and cooling systems to reduce energy use throughout the DC metropolitan area. This demonstrated commitment to energy conservation brought PBAC to partner with Polar Bears International, an organization dedicated to ensuring the future survival of Polar Bears in the Arctic.

By encouraging local residents to switch to programmable thermostats and high-efficiency systems, PBAC is helping to conserve energy, which aligns perfectly with PBI’s Arctic Allies Program, a showcase for companies that demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship. We challenge employees, suppliers, and customers to reduce their carbon footprint and make conscious decisions and actions that reflect the company’s environmental values.

As a conservation-minded small business, Polar Hear Air Conditioning & Heating wanted to make a contribution in support of PBI’s efforts to save polar bears and their habitat. Beginning in November, 2017, we ran a promotional offer to local residents in which 50% of the proceeds for heating maintenance were donated to Polar Bears International.

The proceeds were presented last week in honor of International Polar Bear Day, an annual event celebrated every 27th of February to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear.

Thank you for helping us reach our goal for Polar Bears International!

Thursday, March 10th, 2016

In February, Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. partnered with Polar Bears International in the #ThermostatChallenge. We challenged our Washington, D.C. community to turn down our thermostats by one or two degrees and make a big difference in reducing CO2 emissions. Polar Bears International created the campaign to reduce emissions and help save polar bear habitat.

According to The Green Book, if every household in the U.S. adjusted their thermostat by one degree, it would save the amount of energy Iowa uses in one year! Likewise, if all U.S. households properly used programmable thermostats, we would reduce CO2 emissions equal to the amount of CO2 produced by Los Angeles each year. Another way to significantly reduce CO2 emissions is by choosing a high efficiency cooling and heating system. Polar Bear Air Conditioning & Heating is a D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) participating contractor, who can help you choose the most efficient HVAC system that will be the best fit for your home.

We asked Washington, D.C. to show us they were participating in the #ThermostatChallenge by “Liking” us on Facebook. For every Facebook Page “Like” we received in February, we committed to donate $5, up to $5,000. Together, we reached our goal and were able to raise $5,000 for Polar Bears International! Thank you, Washington, D.C., and keep up the good work in saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions for the sake of polar bears and the environment as a whole. Watch for our next challenge, coming in April for Earth Day!

The CHCS Renovator’s House Tour is a walking tour of several homes on Capitol Hill. The emphasis is on clever solutions for everyday problems. Tickets can be purchased online through the school. We hope to see you there on October 18!

Welcome Back to School Safety Tips

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

1219898_75483334Polar Bear Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc. is a proud supporter of Capitol Hill Cluster School, Janney Elementary School, Lafayette Elementary School and Murch Elementary School in Washington, D.C. as well as Jamestown Elementary School, Nottingham Elementary School and Tuckahoe Elementary School in Arlington, VA.  We wish for all of our students in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia an exciting and productive year of learning in the Nation’s Capital.

Now that school is back in session, we can do our part to ensure safety by slowing down, looking around, and obeying speed limits around our schools and bus stops.  We all lead busy lives, but refraining from speeding past a school bus approaching a bus stop may save a child’s life.  Likewise, we can remind our children to wait until the bus has come to a complete stop with the stop sign extended, or until the crossing guard has signaled to them before entering the street or approaching the bus.  For more safety tips concerning walking to school or the bus stop, visit DC Metropolitan Police Department’s School Bus Safety Tips or Arlington County Public Schools’ Tips for Walking to School or the Bus Stop.

Let’s have a safe and rewarding academic year!
